FAQ’s
+ What is permanent cosmetic makeup and tattooing?
Permanent Cosmetic Makeup or Cosmetic Tattooing is applied with the intention of permanency. Permanent Cosmetic Eyebrows, Eyeliner, and/or Lips are non-surgical procedures that use specialized tattooing methods. Colored pigments are implanted into the dermal layer of the skin through microscopic injections with the use of a state of the art machine with a one time use cartridge system and/or a hand tool method with either a fine sterile disposable needle or cluster of needles to produce the appearance of hair strokes, makeup, or to enhance the natural features of the face allowing us the most customized outcome. This process is also called Micropigmentation, Intradermal Cosmetics, Dermal Implantation, or Dermagraphix. Permanent Makeup is the term used to describe the cosmetic tattooing of facial features (eyebrows, eyeliner, or lips) to improve color and shape.
Permanent Cosmetic tattoo's are applied by various methods. This ancient practice combined with today’s methods of application safely enhances your eyebrows, eyes and lips with results that last, saving time on your daily beauty routine.
+ WHAT DOES IT COST?
Permanent Cosmetic Tattoo's are not inexpensive, but they are priceless. Most people don't get a permanent cosmetic tattooing to save money, they do it for convenience and to know that they will always look their best. If you compare other non-surgical procedures such as Botox or wrinkle filler it gives you a good idea of the value of permanent cosmetic tatooing. For about the same cost as some Botox or filler, which may last only 3-4 months, you will get permanent makeup that lasts for years and saves you time every day.
At ID ARTSY we us state of the art equipment and sterile single use materials along with the quality pigments used which are reflected in the price. However, the long lasting nature of these treatments make them a very economical approach and provide the client with extra piece of mind where Health & Safety Hygiene Standards are concerned. Many clients may be tempted to look for the cheapest price on the market when deciding on having a Permanent Cosmetics Makeup procedure but this should not be the first priority considering the longevity of a cosmetic tattoo.
Unfortunately, some clients may end up with unflattering, unnatural results that are extremely difficult and costly to correct this is why it’s important to research your artist to ensure that you obtain beautiful, natural results that will enhance your features.
+ IS IT THE SAME AS A TATTOO? IS IT REALLY PERMANENT?
Anytime color is implanted into the dermis of the skin regardless of the manner in which it is performed, it is a form of tattoo. Although different techniques and pigments are used.
Permanent cosmetic tattoo procedures are considered permanent because pigment is tattooed into the upper reticular part of the dermal layer of the skin and cannot be washed off. However, as with any tattoo or colorant (pigment) in general, fading can and often does occur, requiring periodic maintenance referred to as enhancement, touch-up, color boost or color refresher. The scientific structure of pigments and the requirement for periodic touch-ups is identical to that of tinted hair color; faded material on furniture that may be located near a window and subject to sun exposure; house paint that is exposed to the sun and other environmental elements; pigment implanted in the skin may fade with time. This periodic maintenance requirement is a good opportunity to reevaluate one’s color and design preferences.
+ HOW OLD DO I HAVE TO BE TO HAVE A PERMANENT COSMETIC TATTOO?
You must be 18 years or older.
+ HOW CAN PERMANENT COSMETIC TATTOOING BENEFIT YOU?
Permanent Cosmetic Tattoo's will save you time and frustration, giving you the freedom to enjoy many of your life’s activities without worrying about your appearance.
+ WHAT HAPPENS DURING A PERMANENT COSMETIC TATTOO SESSION?
Each service will take up to approximately 2 hours. Each procedure takes precise detail. The complimentary follow up session usually require less time.
- Your practicioner will go over your client consent form to discuss your health and goals to ensure that Permanent Cosmetic tattooing is right for you.
- Before Photos/Videos will be taken.
- Pre-draw artistry takes place so that we can help you achieve the best look for you including shape, size, style, vs lifestyle and other individual aspects. Paying great attention to your feedback, your practicioner will design and carefully measure the specific golden ratio of your face, with various precision tools. After you have approved the design of your choice, color is carefully selected to match your natural hair color and skin tone.
- Pre-numbing cream is applied, once area to be treated is numb, it then is removed. The pre-draw will still be in place.
- The procedure takes place.
- You practicioner will go over post-care and give you your post-care goodies.
- After Photos/Videos will be taken.
- The complimentary follow up session will be booked in to further perfect your new tattooed treated area at the 6-12 weeks mark. The follow up session is as important as the initial treatment, and it is where magic really happens to your new eyebrow tattoo, so do not miss it.
+ HOW MANY SESSIONS UNTIL THE FINAL RESULT?
All permanent cosmetic tattoo procedures are a multi-session process. For best results, the client is recommended to return for one complimentary follow up session (included in the cost). This procedure should take place approximately 6-12 weeks after the initial session. At the follow up session we will assess the color retention and make adjustments as necessary. Healing is specific to each client and how well you follow post-care instructions.
We DO NOT have control over your body’s healing process. Everyone heals differently and at different rates. If your cosmetic tattoo does not heal perfectly the first time, do not worry! We can always go darker and add more density at your next appointment. If your wanting a more “dramatic” look this is a good time to let your practicioner know. We can always add to any permanent cosmetic tattoo procedure in most cases but remember it is harder to take away.
The follow up session it is highly recommended to achieve the best results. It is complimentary but needs to be completed within 3 months of your initial treatment. Because everyone’s tissue reaction is different, some clients may even need a third session while others will not.
Keep in mind, your permanent cosmetic tattoo will need upkeep from time to time. It gives the client the opportunity to change the color or shape down the road. A touch-up is required usually between 12-18 months to keep it looking fresh. The results vary and last 1-4 years, depending on the client’s maintenance and skin type.
+ CAN I HAVE EYEBROWS, EYELINER AND LIPS DONE ON THE SAME DAY?
Of course, one advantage is that your aftercare and healing time for all the areas is consolidated into the same time frame. However, some people choose to do the procedures as individual appointments, and some will do only brows and eyeliner and return for lips later vice versa. If interested in having all the procedures done in one day give us a call 571-989-4949 or email us hello@idartsy.com to schedule.
+ DO YOU SHAVE OFF MY EXISTING EYEBROW HAIR FOR EYEBROW PROCEDURES?
No. We incorporate as much of the natural brow hairs as possible. You should never have your existing brow hair shaved off. We work with your existing eyebrow hair and use your natural unique brow bone structure as a guide and template to create natural looking eyebrows that can instantly lift your eyes, define your face and take years off your appearance.
+ WILL I STILL NEED TO TWEEZE?
Yes. Permanent Makeup will not interfere with your hair growth.
+ WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AFTER THE PROCEDURE?
You will have a slight white ream from the numbing gel, this goes away within 15 to 30 minutes after the procedure.
Brows and eyeliner tend to look darker in color immediately after the initial appointment, while lip colors can look more intense. The color will lighten up within a couple weeks and will continue to lighten over several weeks.
Most people can go about their daily routines. There will be mild swelling, redness, or tenderness that lasts a few hours to a few days (eyebrows swell less than eyes and lips). Immediately following a procedure, There may also be slight bruising with lip and eye procedures. You must follow the post-care instructions so that your permanent cosmetic design can properly heal.
At approximately 6-12 weeks after your initial session you will have a follow up session. Color and design adjustments can be made at this time. This follow up session is very important and required before it can be determined that your procedure is complete.
+ AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR PERMANENT COSMETICS TATTOOING?
You are not an ideal candidate for Permanent Cosmetic Tattoo Procedures if: Under 18 years of age
- Sick (cold, flu, etc)
- Undergoing Chemotherapy
- Have an organ transplant
- Have a history of trichotillomania
- If you have undergone chemotherapy treatment, it’s recommended you wait 4 months after your last session before any tattooing can be performed.
- Skin irritations on or near the treated area (psoriasis, rashes, sunburn, acne, eczema, rosacea, active cold sores etc,) moles or other skin imperfections in or around the area of the procedure. We will NOT be able to go through with the procedure until the area of concern is clear or the mole is removed and healed.
- If you are pregnant or nursing - Although there is no medical evidence that a cosmetic tattoo would have any effect on an unborn child we don’t know for sure. We suggest you err on the side of caution and schedule an appointment after the baby is born and you are no longer nursing. These are some of the reasons why: When you're pregnant you have higher chances of fainting. If you were to get an infection, you would have to worry about your baby as well. Your hormones can cause hyper-pigmentation, among other skin conditions. Your skin may become more sensitive, which means avoidable excess pain. Your immune system is lowered, meaning it can take longer to heal. If during a tattoo you experience excessive pain or stress and your body goes into shock, you risk going into early labor or even a spontaneous miscarriage.
- If you have used accutane within the past year, steroids within the past 6 months, or Retin-A within the past month. Accutane, Cortisone, Renova, topical steroids, all thin the skin. Depending on the stage your skin is at, it may be too fragile to undergo a cosmetic tattoo procedure. You should get clearance from your doctor before considering the procedure.
- If you are on anticoagulants (blood thinners) long term use of aspirin, ibuprofen, and even some herbs can reduce clotting time resulting in increased bleeding and bruising, which would affect the implantation of pigment as well as increase the healing time.
- Allergies to makeup, dyes, or pigments - It is advisable to come in for a small patch test
- If you are taking prescription strength medications or treatments that affect the dermal layer of the skin such as; Doxycycline it can affect your tattoo.
- If you have an autoimmune disease. You should get clearance from your doctor before considering a permanent cosmetics makeup procedure.
- If you have epilepsy, diabetes, hemophilia or heart disease, you must have a physician’s approval prior to any procedure.
- Diabetes - if you are insulin dependent, you are not a candidate for permanent cosmetics. Healing could be compromised and take longer than average. Otherwise, if your doctor feels your condition is under control you may request a letter stating that you are able to undergo permanent makeup.
- Have Hepatitis, HIV or any other viral infections or diseases
- Glaucoma - You may not have eyeliner. Increased intraocular pressure combined with pressure placed on the eye to apply eyeliner could be damaging. It is important to have this condition under control and/or refer to your physician for further consent to the application of eyeliner.
- Blood Disorders - that affect clotting such as hemophilia, sickle cell anemia or platelet disorders could interfere with implantation of pigment, however it is possible to receive successful implantation of permanent cosmetics.
- Mitral Valve Prolapse, Artificial Heart Valves or Artificial Joints - or any person that requires prophylactic antibiotics before dental or other procedures will need ro consult their physician for treatment prior to permanent cosmetics.
- Have a pacemaker or any other heart conditions - Uncontrolled high blood pressure and poor general health would be special concern, you will need to see your physician and discuss the procedure to gain pre-approval.
- Keloids or Hypertrophic Scarring - Anyone with tendencies for this type of scarring have the same risk with permanent cosmetics as well. We may decide to do a patch test to insure that you do not scar in this manor.
- Iron deficient or anemic - May require more frequent touch ups
- Smokers - Pigment will fade sooner. Maybe require more frequent touch ups
If you have any medical issues that you feel might be a contraindication then we suggest you get clearance from your doctor. You know the state of your health better than anyone.
If you have any concerns or are unsure as to whether you may be prevented from undergoing a Permanent Cosmetic Tattoo procedure, please don’t hesitate to email us at hello@idartsy.com or call 571-989-4949

(NOTE – It is advisable to have the treatment done prior to the chemotherapy and the subsequent hair loss, particularly with the eyebrows. The reason for this is so that your natural hair growth patterns can be taken into consideration, so that when your eyebrows grow back, they will exist in harmony with the tattooed eyebrows).
Men and women who seek correction of asymmetrical facial features. Give permanent balance to the face and features. Those who desire freedom and convenience from daily makeup application. Those who are physically incapable or having difficulty applying makeup. People with little talent to apply traditional makeup. Burn survivors and people with flaws in their skin. Increase your confidence. Athletic people who now can participate in sports and say goodbye to smudging, fading, and streaky makeup.
Frame your face with natural-looking eyebrows. Define your lip line, and add fullness and color to your lips. Enhance lip color that compliments your skin and hair tones. Accentuate your eyes with a smudge-free, waterproof eyeliner. Prevents eye irritation which can occur when you accidentally touch your eye while applying eyeliner. Contact wearers with permanent eyeliner do not have to worry about getting flakes of eyeliner on their contacts.
Permanent Cosmetic Tattoo's also benefit the vision challenged who have difficulty applying their cosmetics; and others with dexterity related conditions such as arthritis, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, stroke survivors, and busy people who don’t have time to spend applying and refreshing makeup throughout the day and evening. Permanent Cosmetic Tattooing will ensure that you look great 24 hours a day, it won’t wash off and can last for several years.
+ DOES IT HURT?
Although permanent cosmetic tattoo's are a form of tattooing, these treatments are gentler and less invasive. Clients report that any discomfort is minimal. Numbing cream and topical anesthetics are used before and during the procedure to make the client feel comfortable. Pain threshold levels vary from person to person and every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable for the entirety of the procedure. Most clients are comfortable and feel mostly pressure. Throughout the procedure your practiciner will check in with you to see how your doing. If you are on your menstrual cycle you will be a bit more sensitive towards the pain.
The final results, however, far outweigh the relatively short period of discomfort if any, and every client says that it is worth it.
+ WHAT DO I DO AFTER THE PROCEDURE?
Follow ID ARTSY Post-Care Instructions
+ WHAT WILL EYELINER FEEL LIKE?
You will feel vibrations, but not any discomfort. Lizzeth’s gentle touch, precise technique, and the use of efficient numbing agent insure your comfort throughout the process, which normally takes about an hour, depending on your specific requirements.
+ WHAT IS THE HEALING PROCESS LIKE?
Implanting pigment is seen by the body as trauma. The body reacts by increasing blood flow to the area. Please remember as you are healing, the pigment color will appear much darker at first, and then appear much lighter.
Brows: As the skin is repairing itself and new cells are forming, they can make the pigment color appear an odd color; very ashy, red, opaque or grayish and /or uneven because it is trapped under the layers of skin because of the masking effect of the newly formed collagen.
Eyes: Swelling and redness is to be expected immediately after the procedure as the skin is very thin in this area (it will give off the appearance of as you have been crying). Itching is also normal. The length of time this takes to heal varies from person to person. The swelling shall subside in a few hours, placing spoons in your fridge then placing it on the eyelid will help speed up the process. It takes an average about 4-5 days for the scabs to naturally fall off. Your true color will not be apparent until the 4-6 week mark.
Lips: Your color can be up to 70% darker during the first 3-4 days. Some also experience minimal swelling of the lip area. This will only last a day or two, then the crust that forms will start to flake away revealing a lighter and more natural color. In many cases the client wishes to go darker on their touch-up appointment. It is always best to air on the side of caution on the first procedure. It is easy to add more color, but not to remove it.
Until your skin sloughs off and regenerates you will not be able to see true results. It takes 28 days for the skin to slough off and regenerate itself. It all sounds very hard to believe but just think of the healing process as the same as taking a shower. When you are looking out through the frosted or steamed windows, you are unable to see colors or objects clearly.
It is very important that you follow all the post procedure instructions for your treated area to ensure proper healing.
The healing process definitely requires patience.
+ CAN MY POORLY PREVIOUS PERMANENT COSMETIC TATOOO DONE ELSEWHERE BE FIXED IN COLOR AND SHAPE?
In most cases they most certainly can, however your expectations need to be realistic as results are not always comparable to a fresh, new brow, eyeliner or lip procedure. Poorly shaped or unnatural color on your brows/eyeliner/lips need to be corrected using corrective pigments. In some cases where the previous work is too dark, dense, discolored or large, correction is not recommended and tattoo removal will be highly recommended before we begin the correction. We cannot guarantee results for cases such as these. We are happy to welcome you as a new client if we are able to help.
PLEASE NOTE:
At ID ARTSY Correction work begins at a new client rate which includes two sessions (an initial session + a complimentary follow up session 6-12 weeks after). Each appointment is approximately 2 hours to ensure we take the time to do our best work. On the day of your initial session your follow up session will be scheduled. We must give your skin ample time to fully heal and regenerate before working on it again. Additional sessions at touch-up rates may be required. Your artist does not provide touch ups of other artists work for a reduced fee as a greater amount of work is required to correct previous cosmetic tattoos done elsewhere.
In many cases, a consultation is required to determine whether correction is possible. If you have had your eyebrows/eyeliner/lips previously tattooed and are interested in a correction, You must email a clear photo in natural light without any makeup on the treated area to hello@idartsy.com prior to booking your appointment. We must approve that your eyebrows/eyeliner/lips are workable.
+ HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HEAL?
The healing time is minimal for all treatments, up to 10 days. A small percentage of people will have some swelling, itchiness and tenderness in the days following a treatment, but work and all other activities can continue immediately.
It is only with the Ombre Lips and Full Lips procedure that swelling can last for up to 48 hours or even a little longer. The lips will be dry. Some mature age clients may experience very sore and rough lips for approximately 7 days. Please be aware that we cannot perform Lips related treatments on people with dental braces.
+ HOW LONG IS THE DOWNTIME?
All Permanent Cosmetics are a walk in and walk out procedure with no downtime.
Our techniques are non invasive. There is very minimal trauma, therefore there is little to no downtime. Some people think that they may have to take time off work after the treatment, in fact, this is not the case unless you choose to do so. You should be able to get straight back to work immediately after your treatment.
If you plan to go on a vacation, it is recommended to plan your trip a minimum of 14 days before or 4 weeks after the procedure.
+ WHAT WILL THE FINAL COLOR LOOK LIKE?
Permanent cosmetic pigments/color should be selected to compliment a person’s skin tone, hair, and eye color. A conservative approach is best because it is easier to make an existing color darker versus lighter. Colors will always look darker and more intense immediately following a procedure, and then gradually lighten and soften upon healing.
+ CAN I HAVE A PERMANENT COSMETIC TATTOOING PERFORMED WHILE UNDERGOING CHEMOTHERAPY TREATMENTS?
We recommend having these services performed before undergoing chemotherapy treatments. Chemotherapy compromises your immune system, and as such, we are concerned about doing a service that carries a risk of infection while your immune system is compromised. We only make exceptions to this rule with written consent from your Doctor.
+ WHY DOES PERMANENT COSMETIC TATTOOING FADE?
These are some factors which cause permanent cosmetic tattoo's to fade: body chemistry; cellular turnover - rejuvenation, etc.; anti-aging products applied directly over the permanent makeup; choice of color applied (i.e., lighter colors will fade quicker than darker colors); and exposure to sunlight (hence the suggestion of wearing an SPF over your permanent makeup); and also, the technician’s choice of pigment(s) used, as well as her experience in applying permanent makeup.
+ CAN I WEAR MAKEUP AFTER MY PROCEDURE?
We advise not to wear traditional cosmetics until the skin has healed as this may cause infection and/or hinder the healing process. Keep the treatment site hygienically clean and lightly moisturized with the ointment given to promote efficient healing. Once healed you can wear as much makeup as you wish, although you probably will not need to!
+ CAN I GO ON VACATION IMMEDIATELY AFTER MY PROCEDURE?
Sun can impact on the success of the result during the immediate healing phase. We recommend that you leave 4-6 weeks between your final enhancement procedure and your vacation.
+ HOW LONG DOES PERMANENT COSMETIC TATTOOING LAST?
Permanent Cosmetic Tattoo procedures are considered permanent and will not wash off, however they will fade over time and may need to be touched up every 1-2 years, 2-3 years (Lips & eyes)
Permanent Cosmetic tattooing is an art not a science and understand no guarantee can be made that the color will stay. Since pigments are not implanted into the skin as deep as traditional tattoos, the area will naturally fade overtime. Color retention is affected by different factors including the shade of the original color, the person’s age and metabolism, skin type; normal., dry, oiliness and condition, exposure to UV radiation (sun, tanning booths), smoking, certain drugs and medications. A client’s skin care routine will also affect the lasting effect of the pigment; clients who use corrective skin care products on or near the brow area containing, AHA, Glycolic Acid, Retinol and Hydroquinone creams, will see that the tattoo will fade faster and your color will not last as long. Each individual’s color retention within the skin will vary. To maintain brows looking their best a touchup is suggested every 12-18 months. Clients can let the area fade over time, but please note a slight shadow may remain.
+ CAN I GET A PERMANENT COSMETICS TATTOO IF I AM PREGNANT OR NURSING?
As a precaution, we do not perform cosmetic tattooing on women who are pregnant or nursing.
+ CAN I GET A PERMANENT COSMETICS TATTOO IF I RECENTLY HAD BOTOX OR OTHER INJECTABLES
As a precaution, we do not perform cosmetic tattooing on those who have received botox less than 14 days before the appointment. You can resume your treatments like normal after the healing period.
+ I HAVE SUFFERED WITH COLD SORES IN THE PAST-WILL THIS AFFECT MY LIP TATTOO PROCEDURE?
If you have a history of cold sores, fever or sun blisters, or any other type of sore on the lips, the trauma and stress of the procedure will cause the sore to reactivate. For best results, ask your Doctor for a Prescription for Zovirax, Famvir, Valtrex or similar tablets – the daily dosage must be 1000mg in total. Clients should start taking the tablets 2 days before the Lip procedure, and two days after the lip procedure.
+ WHAT IF I CURRENTLY HAVE LIP FILLERS OR PLAN TO HAVE THEM?
If you don’t plan on maintaining fillers throughout time, consider your lip service first. If you plan on maintaining fillers, we can do the procedure after as long as they have had time to settle. We recommend a minimum of 6 weeks. If at some point you don’t maintain the injections there is a risk your lip line will appear slightly uneven. This should be discussed at the lip consultation.
+ HOW WILL MY PERMANENT COSMETIC TATTOO LOOK IN THE FUTURE?
The majority of our clients cosmetic tattoos stay true to color and lighten naturally over time. However, there are some cases where colors may fade to different tones according to the individuals response to the pigments (like lifestyle and iron deficiencies). Many factors affect these changes. At your follow up appointment, we will re-analyze how your body has responded to the initial color, special formula alteration to correct the color and to prevent further color change is made at this time.
+ WHAT SHOULD I KNOW ABOUT LONG TERM CARE?
You’ll find that your cosmetic tattoo will last between 1 - 3 years for brows and 2-5 for lips and eyeliner after their complimentary enhancement session.
- Future touch-up appointments are required to maintain their shape and depth of color. If you do not maintain, the color will lighten over time. Fading greatly depends on your skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, pigment color used, broken capillaries, and iron deficiency. We suggest that if you want to maintain your lips so that they always look their best, plan on scheduling a touch up once a year for best results.
- A good sunscreen applied daily after healing on tattooed area(s) is required to help keep color true as with any tattoo sun exposure will make the color fade faster. Sun exposure will fade your cosmetic tattoo overtime. Smokers, “sun worshippers”, or anyone with skin that is in a state of distress may have less desirable results. Sun exposure will make the color fade faster. A lip balm with SPF applied daily on tattooed area is needed to help keep the color true.
- If you are planning a chemical peel or laser procedure inform the practitioner of your cosmetic tattoo.
- If you have an MRI scan after having permanent cosmetics, you should inform the practitioner prior to the scan about your treatment, when you had it and the location. This should not prevent you from being able to have an MRI scan, but is information the practitioner will need to be aware of.
- The use of Retin-A/Tretinoin, hydroquinone, or any other rapid skin exfoliation used regularly on any area surrounding the brow area will cause your cosmetic tattoo to fade prematurely.
- The use of chemical peels, acid peels, lightening or any brightening product that targets hyper-pigmentation used regularly on the forehead region can cause permanent eyebrows to fade prematurely.
- The use of exfoliating cleansers, scrubs, cleansers with acne fighting ingredients or “acid” in the name will cause rapid exfoliation of the skin containing the pigment and will increase odds of premature fading.
- Laser hair removal can fade and change the shade of your lip and brow treatment if you are having the hair removal in that area. Simply inform your laser technician that you are wearing permanent cosmetics prior to the treatment and they will act accordingly to accommodate for this.
+ HOW HYGIENIC IS THE PROCEDURE?
At ID ARTSY great importance is placed upon cleanliness and hygiene. We adhere to the highest standards of hygiene and safety guidelines protocols along with the use of high quality pigments, disposable needles and single use supplies, insuring a safe procedure to all her clients.
All of the needles and attachments used come in sterile packs and are disposed of after each treatment. There is absolutely no reusing of pigment between clients. New needles, new machine attachments and new products are used per client. Our studio has been approved by the local Health Department.
There are numerous risks when having cosmetic tattoo procedures at venues other than those properly qualified and accredited. Clients can end up with not just with bad looking results but permanent scarring, skin infections or even serious, life-threatening illnesses such as; Hepatitis B and C when needles are not cleaned properly.
+ ARE THE PIGMENTS USED ON MY SKIN SAFE?
Our pigment selections are of the highest grade and quality that undergo strict testing and regulations. However, post care instructions should be strictly followed to prevent any bacterial infection. Technically, the colored pigments used are suspensions containing insoluble inert compounds, usually iron or titanium oxides. The microscopic particles that appear to be dissolved are actually suspended in a clear liquid base of alcohol, distilled water, and glycerin. The traditional body tattooing process is different because it uses colored "inks" or "dyes" that are completely dissolved liquids with transparent color.
While the pigments are considered extremely safe, people can develop an allergy to anything, anytime; however, pigment allergies are considered rare. Some doctors recommend that people with environmental allergies or allergies to conventional makeup have permanent cosmetic procedures because they can replace cosmetic products that people are sensitive to. While allergic reactions to any type of tattooing pigments on the body or on the face through permanent cosmetics may occur at any point in time, they are extremely rare. Also, pigment suppliers are required to list the ingredients on their pigment labels. Product ingredients are listed on the bottles that we use.
+ HOW DO I KNOW WHAT COLOR WILL LOOK BEST ON ME?
Being conservative is key. It is easy to darken or add more color later, but not easy to remove if the result is too dark or unnatural.
You may give input into the selection of the color. However, there are many considerations to choosing a color for permanent cosmetics. Your artist will guide you in the selection process. Everyone has their own unique skin qualities, including color tone and sensitivity. Using these guidelines helps in the decision making process. Underlying skin tone will influence the healed color result and the long-term color qualities. Our artists have extensive knowledge of color theory and of the skin physiology. In addition, they have a lot of experience working on many different skin types.
+ CAN I HAVE ANTI-AGING INJECTIONS OR COSMETIC SURGERY AFTER MY PROCEDURE?
This depends on the treatment you are considering and it’s location. You will need to take advice from your doctor or surgeon. It is important to remember that some of these procedures can alter the shape of your lips and eyebrows.
+ WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW IF I WANT TO HAVE A LASER FACIAL DONE AFTER HAVING PERMANENT COSMETIC TATTOOING?
You may have laser treatments such as IPL for photo damage, fraxel-type lasers for skin tightening and skin restoration but you need to inform the medical professional that you have a permanent cosmetic tattoo and that they need to apply 20% Zinc Oxide on it. Certain colors can turn to an undesirable shade or get lightened or removed. The medical professional should avoid direct contact between the laser and the permanent cosmetic areas.
+ HOW DO I CHOOSE A PROFESSIONAL PERMANENT COSMETIC TATTOO PRACTICIONER?
Selecting a Permanent Cosmetic Tattoo practicioner can be stressful especially if this is your first procedure. Take your time to choose the right artist to suit you. Don’t just focus on the cheapest price. This is your FACE we are talking about. DO YOUR RESEARCH.
You want to go to an Artist/Practitioner that is Licensed, Insured and Certified in their craft. Make sure their work is consistent and active. A good artist will have no problem showing their work and the pictures will look somewhat similar. A good artist is willing and can answer any and all questions you have. That is the best way to know if an artist is a Trained Practitioner.
Make sure the practicioner lets you know the possible outcomes of how permanent cosmetic tattoo's may affect you. This will reassure you that the practicioner cares about you and informs you of any possible outcomes so there are no surprises. Don’t go to anyone that doesn’t make you feel relaxed and calm. It will make you feel more comfortable knowing you did your homework and made the right choice.
+ CAN SOMEONE DONATE BLOOD AFTER THE PROCEDURE?
The Red Cross blood donation eligibility guidelines specify that each potential donor’s health history is discussed before any blood is collected. They consider any tattoo to be “acceptable if the tattoo was applied by a state-regulated entity using sterile needles and ink that is not reused.
Current guidelines from the FDA Defer for 6 months from the most recent tattoo.
+ WHAT IF STYLE CHANGES?
We never do anything "trendy." For example, even if you wanted to wear a different color lip liner or lipstick, the color you apply would override your permanent cosmetic tattoo color.
+ WILL YOU ADD A WING TO MY TOP EYELINER?
We can, but will do so only after consulting with you on the long-term implications. Over time, it does not age well. Keep in mind eyes change dramatically as we get older. While the “wing” may be lifted out or up and look beautiful now, it will eventually droop down and appear miss-placed or miss-shaped. Due to the fact that some color may always stay in your skin. We usually recommend a more natural eyeliner that compliments the shape of your eye. We can often provide a subtle lift to the outer corners.
